Anna Hearnes paintings are a nostalgic exploration of childhood memories, growing up in rural Ireland in the 1980’s and the imagery and sounds of those summers. ‘Billowing sheets, tall grasses and the flight of swallows’ she says, ‘I strive to capture the fractured nature of memory, embracing its overlaps and mutations. Each layer in my paintings reflects the ethereality of sensory experiences- fragmented of voices, scents, and colours that linger long after the specifics fade’.
