Charles Tyrrell was born in County Meath in 1950. He studied painting at NCAD, graduating in 1974. In a diverse and lengthy career, his early works were informed by American abstract expressionists while in more recent bodies of work he is engaged with more minimalist and geometric influences. This acclaimed and highly collectable abstract painter continues to deliver works of strength and relevance with solo and group exhibitions around Ireland and abroad.
