It is rare for a painting by Katherine Boucher Beug to appear at auction as collectors are drawn to her exquisite works and never want to part with them. ‘Go Softly’, with acrylic, pigment and pastel in earthy tones, is one of her very finest. Created in 1999, the ‘dreamy’ feel of this work emerges through a gentle grid structure with layering and re working allowing the narrative to develop in shape, colour and light. It is a very beautiful painting.
