Martin Gale was born in England in 1949 and moved to Ireland at an early age. He studied painting and drawing at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin and now lives and works in Co. Kildare. His works are mainly concerned with the interaction between the Irish landscape, settings and people and the resulting paintings are meticulously crafted. His has had a lengthy career with numerous solo and group exhibitions and his works are held in many public and private collections. In 2024, he shared a much celebrated joint exhibition of new work with Charles Tyrell at the Sarah Walker Gallery in Castletownbere, West Cork.
